Love creating fabulous folded flowers with the Fold-It Swirls Template? Now we’ve made it even easier with five new Fold-It Swirls Punches! Punch out as many shapes as you’d like, then just fold them into shape to add unique, dimensional accents to all your paper crafts. These punched shapes are perfectly sized for both 12''x12'' and 8''x8'' scrapbook pages, and we love them on cards and sarabinders™, too! Keep reading to see how LeNae used two different Fold-It Swirls shapes on her latest scrapbook layouts.
It’s June, which means graduations galore! LeNae selected rich, neutral colors from Classic sarapapers™ to create this graduation-themed layout, accenting the page with folded flowers, brads, ribbons, ephemera and even a sweet little handmade diploma.
LeNae chose the 6-Petal Fold-It Swirls Punch to add bold floral accents that tie in with the printed floral cluster in the corner of the background paper. She punched the flower patterns out of black glimmer paper, then inked the edges with a white StazOn ink pad to define the edges of the individual petals when folded. White ink pads are great for inking the edges of flowers that are created from dark papers, while dark ink pads like black, brown, deep blue and purple work best with lighter colored papers.
To add dimension to her folded flowers, LeNae clustered three mini brads in the center of each flower. Not only do these brads create a cute, dimensional center for the flowers, they also help secure the flower and hold all the folded petals in place. Both of the 6-petal flowers were layered on top of a piece of folded, patterned ribbon and attached to the page with foam tape for even more dimension.
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Use the brown floral paper as the background (with the flower in the bottom left corner). Mat a 7"x5" horizontal photo on the other sheet of brown floral paper, trim the mat to 3/16" and ink the edges black. Mat again on black glimmer paper, trimming the mat to 3/16". Glue the photo centered 1/2" from the top of the page. Journal a caption onto the brown label and use foam tape to secure the label overlapping the bottom edge of the photo. Add three pewter mini brads vertically next to the top right edge of the photo mat.
- Punch a 6-petal flower out of black glimmer paper, ink the edges white and fold into shape. Cluster three pewter mini brads in the center of the flower. Trim the tails of a 2 1/2" length of black/white gingham ribbon at an angle and fold the length in half. Use foam tape to secure the folded end of the ribbon length and the folded 6-petal flower overlapping the bottom left edge of the photo.
- For the cluster in the corner of the page:
- Cut out the light brown with dotted border tag and add number brads to the tag to represent the year. Knot a 3 1/2" length of black grosgrain ribbon and use a Glue Dot™ to attach the knot to the top of the tag.
- Cut a 2"x4" strip of white cardstock and roll it, then tie it with a length of black/white gingham ribbon.
- Cut out the “knowledge” definition, crumple it up and smooth it out. Use a ruler and a pencil to draw lines across the definition, intersecting and at varying angles to mimic the lines printed on the background paper.
- Cut out “achievement” and ink the edges black.
- Punch a 6-petal flower out of black glimmer paper, ink the edges white and fold into shape. Cluster three pewter mini brads in the center of the flower. Trim the tails of a 2 1/2" length of black/white gingham ribbon at an angle and fold the length in half.
Cluster all the pieces in the bottom right corner of the page, as shown, attaching the 6-petal flower and folded ribbon length with foam tape, the “achievement” word with a pewter mini brad in each end and the rest with glue stick.

Coordinating Retro 8"x8" Papers create a perfect background for this outdoor family photo. And what better way to accent an outdoor photo and retro papers than with floral embellishments?
Fold-It Swirls Punches make it easy to create customized embellishments that totally coordinate with the rest of your project. For this “Family Time” layout, LeNae punched out a 4-petal flower from a coordinating paper from the paper pack, then personalized it further by chalking the petals and inking the edges so they stand out when the flower is folded. A pink brad in the center of the flower helps to hold all the petals in place, while a covered slide mount acts as a perfectly sized frame for the floral embellishment.
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Use the pink with stripe border paper as the background, turning the paper so the border runs down the left edge. Mat a horizontal photo on dark pink textured paper, trim the mat to 1/8" and ink the edges brown. Glue the “family” tab behind the top left edge of the mat. Mat the photo again on brown with floral border paper with the floral border on the right side of the mat. Trim the mat to 3/8" and glue the matted photo 5/8" from the top of the page. Add the pink flowers tag to the right top edge of the photo.
- Journal the date above the left top edge and the phrase “Family Time” below the right bottom edge of the matted photo.
- Turn one square slide mount on point and cover with pink/lime stripes paper with the stripes running horizontally. Fold a 2" length of light pink grosgrain ribbon in half and trim the tails at an angle. Glue the folded end behind the bottom right edge of the slide mount with the tails pointing downward, then glue the slide mount on point in the bottom left corner of the page.
- Punch a 4-petal flower out of lime dotted paper, then accent with brown decorating chalk, ink the edges brown and fold into shape. Add one dark pink brad to the center of the flower and use foam tape to add the flower in the window of the slide mount.
