7318Office supplies are suddenly the rage in papercrafting, from clips and staples to envelopes and file folders. Here, designer Shauna Berglund-Immel shares two of her favorite ways to decorate a card with simple office-inspired looks and a cool new template.

Dear Friend Card

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of brown mesh paper slightly smaller than the card front, then mat on black cardstock. Glue to the card front.
  2. Use the template to trace a mini file folder from parchment paper, placing the bottom of the folder on a fold of paper so your folder will open. Cut out, then ink the edges with black. Staple “dear friend” and “many thanks” fragments to the file folder.
  3. Cut out the “thank you” card quote. Crumple it, smooth it and ink the edges with black.
  4. Mat a photo on black cardstock, then on white. Ink the white edges with black. Staple “friends” fragment to the photo.
  5. Glue the file folder to the card front at an angle, then place the photo inside and layer the card quote on top of the photo. When the recipient opens the file folder, she’ll be able to read the quote.
  6. Fold a piece of ribbon in half and staple to the upper right corner of the card.
  7. For the inside: line the inside of the card with brown swirl paper, then staple a crumpled, inked card quote to the center.

Wish Definition Card

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of blue surprise paper slightly smaller than the card front, then ink the edges with black. Glue to the card front.
  2. Use the template to trace a library card holder onto blue texture paper and cut out. Line just the top flap of the envelope with light blue paper. Fold the envelope and glue.
  3. Wrap a piece of blue ribbon around the envelope, securing the ends at the back. Glue to the card front.
  4. Cut out the circular tag and attach it to the ribbon with a circular clip.
  5. Cut the Wish definition so it fits inside the pocket, rounding the top corners. Chalk the word “wish” with blue and ink the edges black. Let the ink dry, then insert into the pocket. Attach “birthday greetings” to the envelope.
  6. For the inside: Cut a piece of blue texture paper slightly smaller than the inside of the card and ink the edges black. Cut out the card quote and ink the edges. Place the “wishes” fragment in the center of the quote. Add to the inside of the card.
