My Daughter Samantha

Wondering how to add dimension to your scrapbook pages without a lot
of bulk? Take a look at this great scrapbook page by designer Susan Cobb,
who shows a new technique for adding dimension by using Overlays.
Susan placed photos under the Overlay and added cut-outs and ribbon on
top for a layered effect. She then computer journaled and placed it under
the Overlay, then traced it for perfect writing!
Susan shares her designer tip:
On top of this Overlay, I used a Permapaque permanent pen for journaling
and pen work – it dries quickly and stays on, too. It’s so
easy to print computer journaling by laying it beneath the clear Overlay
and tracing it. To do the “stitching” pen work, I used a corked-back
ruler on the Overlay to draw my straight line, then added dots along the
line with the pen point. The cork on the back of the ruler helps it from
slipping on the Overlay as you draw your line.
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Mat photos on a 6” x 12” piece of yellow sponged paper
and glue it about 1 1/2” in from the right side of the collaged
background paper. Lay the Overlay over the top of the paper, aligning
it with the left side of the page. Cut out flower squares and attach
as shown on top of the Overlay, then adhere the Overlay to the page
by applying adhesive beneath the flower art.
- Cut out the extra flower and attach above the letter “i”
in “girl.” Lift the Overlay and apply adhesive beneath the
flower to secure.
- Use the ruler and pen to add journaling and pen work. Punch 4 holes
vertically along the upper left corner and tie on ribbons. Add knotted
ribbon to the letter “i” in “girl” on top of
the Overlay. Trim excess Overlay from the right side of page.
