You may have already heard that designer Susan
Cobb’s favorite paper-crafting product is slide mounts. Susan
loves all shapes and sizes of these versatile little treasures. By altering
these acid-free paper embellishments, Susan can make them fit with any
theme, color or project she’s working with. This month Susan decorated
five different slide mounts to show us just how incredible they are and
how to make your slide mounts work for you.

Chalked Green
Susan chalked the white side of this Square
Slide Mount Treasure with moss green decorating chalk. This slide
mount is perfect for adding to a page or card with green in it. Try framing
a piece of Botanical
Ephemera, alphabet tile or photo.
Holiday
Themed
This holiday-themed slide mount is perfect for a card focal or Christmas
layout. Susan covered the slide mount with green plaid paper by first
gluing the slide mount to the back of the paper and trimming the paper
even with the sides. Susan then used an X-acto® knife to cut an “X”
in the center.
She pulled the center papers to the back of the slide mount and glued,
then trimmed the excess paper.
For more holiday charm, Susan matted a holiday stamp on a blank embossed
gold paper charm and attached it with a gold mini brad.
Letter Frame
As an artsy way to jump start her journaling or frame a meaningful letter,
Susan sponged this Circular
Slide Mount Treasure with walnut
ink, then inked the edges with black. She glued a square of tan vellum
behind the opening of the slide mount, then attached a cut out typewriter
letter in the center with foam tape.
This decorated slide mount is perfect for a heritage page or one with
tan or brown tones. The embellishment can be used as the first letter
of a title or to hold an important number significant to the layout.

Alphabet Frame
The perfect way to embellish those school pages. Susan covered a Jumbo
Slide Mount with School
Words Color Block paper and glued a piece of the red color block with
the orange border behind the opening. She cut out the “A”,
“B” and “C” from the School
Notebook ABC’s Cardstock Stickers and attached them with foam
tape as shown. This creates a unique frame and a perfect 3-D embellishment.
Aged Frame
Susan aged this Large
Square Slide Mount by first covering it with burlap
paper, then inking the edges black. She used a fine-grain sandpaper
to weather the paper and the two alphabet tiles, then attached the “T”
with a mini brad ad the “J” with foam tape. It’s perfect
for a masculine-themed page!
See why Susan loves slide mounts? She adds “these acid-free paper
slide mounts add character to my projects without adding bulk, weight
or sharp edges.”
Best of all, slide mounts come in a range of sizes. Take a look:
