Tags are a quick
and easy way to embellish your pages. Here Susan used tags in a variety
of ways—as a photo mat, for journaling the date and name of an event,
for journaling the names of those in the photo and most importantly to
balance the page! The top left title tag perfectly balances the layered
tags at the bottom right of the photo. |

Supplies:
|
Instructions:
- Triple mat the photo on dark blue cardstock, blue canvas paper, then white
cardstock. Glue to the upper center of the blue webbing background paper.
Computer journal or write on white cardstock with the black pen. Trim and
mat on dark blue cardstock, then glue beneath the photo as shown. Add a 1/4”
brad at the top of journaling.
- Punch out the tags. Write names on the small tags, add the black and white
photo to one red tag, and journal on the other with the white pen. Assemble
tags as shown and add to page. Add brads and blue fibers. Finish journaling
on the background paper with the white pen.

Use a knife
to “lift” the corners of the postcard by cutting around the
edges that will be covered by the background paper and lifting them over
the photo. This technique gives your page dimension and allows your photo
to interact with background paper. |
 |
Supplies:
|
Instructions:
- Mat two large and one small photo on blue or green vellum, trim closely.
Glue one large photo to a 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of palm fronds
paper and mat again on blue vellum. Arrange the two larger photos as shown.
Mark the edges of the postcards with a pencil where they will overlap the
photo located near them. Remove photos and place the background paper on your
cutting mat. Use your knife to cut around the corners of the postcards where
they were marked. Replace photos, lifting the cut edges of the postcards over
the photo. Glue photos in place.
- Cut out the pocket, fold and glue together. Glue the small photo to the
tag and place it in an envelope. Glue to the right of the main photo as shown.
Cut out number tiles for the year and arrange on lower corner of photo mat
as shown. Computer journal or write with the black pen on green vellum and
trim to 1” wide for the title and 3/4” wide for across the corner
of the photo mat. Glue in place. Add names to the pocket with the black pen.
Add mini brads as shown.

This red and
black music paper is a great formal background for these anniversary photos.
The light photos combined with the ecru cardstock and the light colored
fibers create fantastic contrast against dark background. The black cardstock
brings the light and dark together. |
 |
Supplies:
|
Instructions:
- Cut an 8” x 8 1/2” piece of red music on black paper and glue
it to the center of the black music on red background paper. Mat the photos
on ecru cardstock, trimming to a 1/8” border. Overlap the photos and
glue to the center of the page.
- Computer journal or write on ecru cardstock with the black pen, then trim
to rectangles and mat on black. Glue to the upper and lower right side of
the page. Add fiber to the right side of each journaling plaque, and to the
left side of the page as shown.
- Cut out the red word fragments and mat on ecru. Adhere “special”
to the beige ribbon with foam tape. Mat the remaining two on black. Glue to
the bottom center of the page as shown. Add “romance” with foam
tape as shown.
