Spring is in the air, and there's no better way to celebrate than
with some fresh new layouts. This month Shauna shares three simple, yet
sophisticated layouts perfect for seasonal scrapbooking.
"Ephemera Background Papers are the perfect background for Vintage
Ephemera paper images!" says Shauna. "I used them to create
a worn, distressed and well-loved looking layout to honor my hardworking
Aunt Meg." Shauna layered Vintage Ephemera pieces with foam tape
to give the page dimension and added chalk to antiqued alphabet tiles
for a great page title.
Supplies:
Instructions:
Use
an X-acto® knife and cut along both edges of the thin ribbon on
the blue script with ribbon background paper.
- Mat photo on pale yellow cardstock, ink edges and mat on black w/tan
words. Trim to 1/4", ink edges, lift ribbon from background paper
and slide underneath as shown.
- Cut out vintage images and letters. Ink straight edges. Arrange images
across the bottom of the page and adhere with layers of foam tape. For
the open book, fold and crease along the centerline, then place a tall
stack of foam tape behind left page so it looks as if the book is open.
Chalk along and under edges of images with brown and black.
- Arrange letters across top of page into a title, using foam tape on
a few of the letters for dimension. Chalk with brown and black on the
paper around the raised letters.
- Cover slide mounts with black/tan words. Trim to size, using X-acto®
to cut out the center. Ink edges and layer over the paper image and
the letters as shown.
- Journal with black pen.
Shauna assembled a small collage at the bottom of this layout that perfectly
balances the weight and position of the photo and journaling. This created
a visual triangle that nicely fills the center of the page.
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Tear out Botanical Ephemera images. Crumple and uncrumple, then chalk
edges with black. Arrange at the bottom of green lines paper using layers
of foam tape.
- Cut out botanical alphabet tiles, chalk with red, green and yellow.
Arrange on green stripes using foam tape, overlapping some of images.
- Ink edges of green lines background paper with black.
- Mat photo on pale yellow, trim to 1/16". Mat on green sponged,
trim to 1/2". Ink edges and wrap red fibers around right side of
photo, adhering behind it. Attach photo to green stripes using foam
tape.
- Computer journal on pale yellow cardstock, ink edges. Adhere to layout
as shown.
- Cut out Tape-Style fragments. Attach to layout as shown using foam
tape for the journaling and collage. Use Glue Dots™ to adhere
words to ribbon fiber on photo mat.
The
Busy Scrapper's Solution Boys to Men collection isn't just limited to
little boys and grown men! Here Shauna used green and black papers from
the collection, with green alphabet tiles to create a St. Patrick's Day
themed page fit for a little girl!
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Mat photo on sponged green, about 3/4" from the left edge.
Use an X-acto® to cut the mat out of the paper, leaving 1/16"
on all sides and making sure it is no wider than 4 3/4" inches.
Outline with gold pen. Mat on sponged black paper, trim to 1/2".
Outline with gold pen.
- Trim sponged black to 5" wide. Outline both sides with gold pen
and adhere over left side of sponged green, 5/8" from the left edge
and covering where you took the photo mat from. Adhere matted photo at
an angle, just off center as shown.
- Insert eyelets into black buckle up ribbon. Stretch buckle across the
bottom of the layout, 3" from the bottom, and adhere ends to back
of layout with clear tape.
- Cut out brushed gold letters and alphabet tiles. Place foam tape on
some and arrange on black strip and ribbon as shown.
- Computer journal on white cardstock, leaving a large space in the center
of your journaling. Outline with gold. Mat on sponged green and trim to
1/16". Chalk selected words with gold and green. Tuck under ribbon
so the buckle covers up the space and you can see all of the journaling.
Add shaped clips as shown.
- Punch three hearts, outline with gold, adhere with foam tape in shape
of clover. Draw a stem with gold pen.
