Tri-Fold Pocket Pattern
By Susan Cobb
Susan used her unique Tri-Fold Pocket pattern to create a sophisticated accent on this “Thinking of You“ card.
Thinking of You

A Tip from Susan:
“I created this Tri-Fold Pocket from aqua patterned paper, then covered the bottom of the pocket with blue textured paper for a different look. Black ink defines the edges and a single blue brad draws attention to the center. A floral tag is perfect for resting in the pocket.”
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Turn the card so the fold is at the top. Trim 1/2" off the bottom opening edge of the card front. Cover the remaining card front with dark blue textured paper. Cover the left side of the card front with a 5 1/2” x 4 1/2” piece of brown texture with blue floral border paper, leaving 1" of the blue textured paper showing at the right side. Ink the edges.
- To make the Tri-Fold Pocket:
1. Cut a 3 1/2" square piece
of aqua vines and flowers
paper.
 |
2. With the patterned side
down, fold 1/2" up from the
bottom edge.

|
3. Repeat for a second fold.
 |
4. Turn the pocket over so the
patterned side is in the front,
with the fold at the bottom.
 |
5. Fold the bottom upward
halfway to the top edge.
 |
6. Cover the bottom white area with dark blue textured paper and trim the edges even with the bottom of the pocket. Turn the pocket over again and fold in each side to meet in the center and glue. Turn the pocket over once more so the dark blue is at the bottom. Ink the edges and glue add a blue mini brad to the center of the fold to secure (push the brad only through the pocket fold, not through the back of the pocket). Cut out the tag, add and embossed brad to the top and place in the pocket. Glue the pocket to the right side of the card.

- Cut a 1/2" strip of aqua vines and flowers paper and ink the edges. Glue diagonally across the upper left corner of the card, trimming the edges even with the card front. Write "thinking of you" on the small aqua/brown tag with the black pen, then add to the card front with a blue mini brad. Tie a shoestring bow and use a Glue Dot™ to attach it just above the top of the tag.
- For the card inside: Cover the inside with the remaining brown textured paper and trim the edges even with the card. Cut a 6 1/2" x 1/2" strip of aqua vines and flowers paper, ink the edges and glue even with the bottom edge of the card inside back. Ink the inside edges of the card. Cut out the card quote and ink the edges black. Glue centered to a 4" x 2 3/4" piece of aqua vines and flowers paper and ink the once more. Cut a 1” length of ribbon, fold in half and add behind the top edge of the matted card quote, as shown. Add a blue mini brad in each corner of the quote mat.
