Penwork Patterns

Adding penwork or simple line drawings can really add character to a page. This first layout looks nice, but the second layout with the penwork has a lot more detail and character.
Realistic scrapper LeNae Gerig often uses these simple penwork patterns to add detail on her pages. It’s a simple way to give a project that little something extra. LeNae added strings and little asterisks to this layout to create the whimsical feel. She also added a border on the journaling block with penwork, which works as sort of a second mat.
The wide range of colors and styles of pens—from black and white to metallic and from fine-tip to heavy-tip—gives you tons of options for adding penwork to your pages. Here are a few of LeNae’s favorite penwork designs. Give them a try and see where your creativity takes you!
