Waterfall Pocket Fold
Looking for a beautiful way to dress up your handmade cards? Susan Cobb’s
Waterfall Pocket Fold is perfect to add a touch of elegance and spectacular
design. Here’s how to do it:
- Fold a 3” square paper or vellum in half, side-to-side.
- Fold it again, bottom-to-top.
- Turn it on point so the open edges are on top.
- Fold down the first layer so it ends 1/4” above the bottom point.
- Fold down the second layer, 1/4” above the first layer.
- Fold down the third layer, 1/4” above the second layer. Do not
fold the last layer!

This lilies card features a waterfall pocket from pale yellow paper with
laser lace covering the top fold. The waterfall fold is matted on pale
green paper and centered on the opening edge of the right-fold card. A
single lily is cut from the patterned paper to go in the waterfall pocket.
Pattern reprinted from Susan’s
Paper Engineering Secrets, a 72-page book chock full of designer tips
from designer Susan
Cobb. Susan shares tricks for folding, creating windows, jackets and
more.
