Butterfly
A paper-pieced
embellishment can be just the right addition to complete a page. This
butterfly goes perfectly with the nature-themed background and also brightens
up the page, coordinating with the photo and journaling mats.
Supplies:
For the pattern:
- patterned Paper Pizazz™: purple/pink swirl, purple/black swirl,
purple swirl: Bright
Great Backgrounds
- solid Paper Pizazz™: black: Solid
Jewel Tones
- black pen: Zig® Writer
- tracing and transfer paper
- pencil
- scissors
- adhesive

Instructions:
- Trim 1/8” from each side of ivy paper. Cut a 10” square
from the center of the medium, creating a frame. Glue ivy to frame,
centered. Place swirls vellum to left of page, 1/2” from edge
and centered. Mat horizontal photos on lavender. Mat vertical photo
on lavender, then medium blue. Glue as shown, gluing vellum down by
placing adhesive behind photos. Journal on lavender, mat on medium blue.
- Create paper-pieced butterfly. Trace outside wings onto purple/pink
swirl paper and cut out. Trace inside wings onto purple/black swirls
paper and cut out. Trace body and head onto purple swirl. Mat each piece
on black. Cut out antennas, eyes and mouth from black. Glue butterfly
together, then glue to page as shown, overlapping photo. Draw swirl
line to right of butterfly with black pen.
