Free Pattern Sachets
By Marilyn Gossett
Marilyn designed these pretty sachets for wedding reception favors—but can't you just see them as favors for a summer tea party, a baby shower or bridal shower? And while Marilyn filled her sachets with potpourri, you could also use the sachet pattern (given here in two different sizes) to hold gift certificates, money gifts, or a small gift like a handmade necklace or bracelet. Pattern and project reprinted from Wedding Ribbonry by Marilyn Gossett. The book is packed with 54 beautiful, easy wedding projects using ribbons.

Instructions
- Transfer the pattern onto the back of the patterned paper, then cut it out. Fold in each side, then the bottom and glue to secure.
- Fill the packet with potpourri, then fold the top and glue. Place the packet face down on the center of the ribbon and wrap it around the packet as you would a gift. Tie the ribbon ends into a shoestring bow (see below) with the loops even with the sachet sides and tails 1/4" over the edge; trim the ends at an angle.
- Glue the flowers and embellishments on the bow as shown. Computer journal your message onto white paper, cut it out and glue it under the ribbon above the bow.

Measure the desired tail length from the end of the ribbon, then make a loop of the specified length. Wrap the free end of the ribbon loosely around the center of the loop. |
 |
Form a loop in the free end of the ribbon and push it through the center loop. Pull the loops in opposite directions to tighten, then pull on the tails to adjust the size of the loops. |
