Gold Reindeer Card
From Susan’s Paper Engineering Secrets

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Cut the card to 5" square, then open the card and score 21/2" along each side to form a tri-panel. Cover the two front panels with gold quilted paper. Cut two 21/2"x1/4" strips of ivory/gold stripes and glue one to the bottom edge of each front panel.
  2. Transfer the triangle pattern onto gold reindeer paper, cut it out and mat it on gold, leaving a 1/16" border on each point side. Glue the straight end to the top of the card back so the pattern side wraps to the front. Cut a 31/2" square of stripes and follow the instructions on page 38 to make a tri-fold pocket, then glue a 3"x1" strip of reindeers around the pocket bottom.
  3. Cut out the laser motif and mat it on gold, leaving a 1/16" border. Tuck the reindeer into the pocket and glue in place, then glue the right half of the pocket to the right panel so half overlaps to the left panel. Transfer the 3/4" wide tag onto ivory, mat it on gold, then attach it to the right panel with the fastener as shown.

Joy Card
From Making Great Handmade Cards

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Cover the card front with gold sponged paper. Cut a 41/2"x6" rectangle from the gold holly leaves on burgundy paper and glue it centered on the card front. Use the template to draw the four 1" squares positioned as shown to form windows. Open the card face up on a cutting surface and use the X-acto® knife to cut out the windows. Open the card and cover the inside back with the burgundy dots on gold paper.
  2. Cut four 1/4"x5" strips from gold sponged paper, and glue each pair back to back. Cut one in half. Cut a “V” at one end of each of the other two pieces; glue the straight ends together at an angle at the top of the window. Cut the remaining strip in half, then pull all the ends together and attach over the first strips as shown for a bow. Punch a circle from sponged gold paper and adhere it to the center of the bow with foam tape.
  3. Use the pattern to cut an ivory tag, then mat on sponged gold, leaving a 1/16" border. Pierce a hole in one end with the needle, then thread both ends of the gold thread through the hole. Pull the ends through the resulting loop, and pull tight. Trim the threads to 1", and glue the ends under the gold bow as show. Cut a 3"x2" piece of ivory paper and mat on burgundy holly paper, trimming edges to a 1/2" border. Glue to the lower half of the inside back. Write “Joy” on the tag, and “May you unwrap the joy of the season every day of the year” on the rectangle with the gold pen.
