More Slide Mounts!
Projects designed by LeNae Gerig
You asked for it! It turns out you love slide mounts just as much as we do–so we’re giving you three more brand-new slide mount projects! LeNae designed each project with a different difficulty level, so whether you’re limited on time or materials or have an endless supply of both, you’ll find just the right inspiration for your next slide mount project.

Embrace
LeNae says: Believe it or not, beautiful slide mounts can be created in minutes! If you’re strapped for time or still unsure about slide mounts, use patterned papers on your slide mount to visually fill up the space and cut down on the amount of embellishments you’ll need to add. On this “Embrace” project, I used coordinating papers and artwork from the 8”x8” Wedding Papers collection. Since they were already coordinated, I didn’t have to spend time going through my paper stash, and since they’re from an 8”x8” collection, the artwork is already sized smaller–perfect for slide mounts! When working with just one fairly small slide mount, I like to add a clip to the slide mount so that it makes the whole piece more substantial. This slide mount would make a perfect focal on a wedding or anniversary card or page, or on the front of a wedding photos sarabinder™
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Cover a slide mount with sage linen paper, then ink the edges with brown. Glue a piece of sage stripe paper behind the slide mount, trimming the excess paper even with the edges of the slide mount. Cut out the "embrace" fragment and glue it across the window. Cut a 4" length of sheer ivory ribbon, then tie it around the center of a copper heart clip and add the clip to the top of the slide mount.
LeNae says: Brads are wonderful for slide mounts because they add that extra punch of dimension while maintaining their functionality. Because slide mounts are small, mini brads are usually best so the brad doesn’t overwhelm the whole project. On this “Sharing” slide mount, I used brads decoratively in each corner, but I also added a brad to the top of the tag that functions to hold the ribbons on the back of the slide mount. Try attaching ribbon strips to the surface of your slide mount with brads, or use brads to secure pieces of vellum, mini envelopes, tags and artwork to the slide.
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Cover a slide mount with pink stripe paper and ink the edges with black. Punch a hole in each corner of the slide mount and insert one black square mini brad into each. Cut out the pink stripe tag and attach the "sharing" ribbon fragment sticker across the black ribbon portion of the tag. Evenly space three pink heart brads across the pink portion of the tag. Glue the tag across the slide mount, then punch a hole at the top of the tag, through both the tag and the slide mount.
- Cut one 4" length each of lime and black grosgrain ribbon and tie a knot at each end of the ribbon lengths. Fold each length in half and place the folded ends behind the slide mount, under the punched hole. Use one pink mini brad to attach a black pinwheel to the top of the tag and to attach the ribbons to the back of the slide mount by folding over the brad fasteners.
Ephemera Tag
LeNae says: Combining different styles of slide mounts will open up a new world of possibilities! Slide Mount Mania™ slide mounts come in 7 different sizes and styles so there are tons of combinations–try fitting one slide mount in the window of another, interlocking two slide mounts, or covering and decorating multiple slide mounts and connecting them with ribbon to create a sequence. Combining slide mounts is a great way to create larger page and card accents while showcasing the individual flair on each slide!
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Lightly ink the white side of a large square slide mount with black, then ink the edges with black so they’re darker than the rest of the surface. Cut a 4” length each of brown grosgrain, black and white gingham and black grosgrain ribbons, then tie each ribbon around the bottom right edge of the slide mount.
- Cover a mini slide mount and a circular slide mount with brown definitions paper, then ink the edges of both with black. Attach the “Love” acetate overlay behind the window on the mini slide mount. Attach the “Family” acetate overlay behind the window on the circular slide mount. Place the mini slide mount in the window of the large square slide mount and secure in place with tape on the back.
- Cut a 9” length of black and white gingham ribbon, then tie it into a shoestring bow and attach it to the top of the large square slide mount with a Glue Dot™. Fold a length of brown grosgrain ribbon into a “v” and attach the folded end behind the “Love” mini slide mount with the tails extending downward.
- Punch two holes in the top of the “Family” slide mount and insert one antique brad into each. Cut a 6 1/2” length of black and white gingham ribbon and wrap it around the bottom of the “Family” slide mount, tying the loose ends into a knot on the front. Glue the loose ends of the folded brown grosgrain ribbon to the back of the “Family” circular slide mount.
