Our Family's Top 3 Favorite Rides
By LeNae Gerig

What was your favorite part of your Disney vacation? It may seem like just yesterday that you were riding the rides and posing with your favorite characters, but as time passes, you certainly won’t want to forget your most memorable moments! A “favorites” page is the perfect way to document the favorite rides, characters and events of every member in your family.

When taking photos, sometimes it can be difficult to capture a moment when you can’t get close enough to the action,” LeNae says. Her tip? “Even though the subject appears far away in your photos, you can crop them into smaller squares to really focus on the subject. On this “Our Family’s Top 3 Favorite Rides” layout, I wasn’t able to get as close to the rides as I wanted to while taking photos, so I took some photos from far away, then cropped them into three similar squares to create a montage of photos from all of the favorite rides. And don’t forget about your camera’s zoom option if you really want to capture the action!”

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Use the green with park rides border paper as the background. Mat the large photo on baby blue cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Mat again on red cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/8”. Mat once more on black cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Crop three smaller photos to 2” squares. Mat each square photo on white cardstock, trimming the mats to 1/16”. Mat again on red, black or baby blue cardstock, using each color on one of the three photos, then trim the mats to 1/16”.
  2. Secure the large photo centered on the page about 1/2” to the right of the border using a glue stick. Attach the three square photos vertically down the page, to the right of the large photo, at varying angles and slightly overlapping each other.
  3. Computer journal the page title onto white cardstock, leaving room to add a word fragment in between. Crop and mat on red cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Mat again on baby blue cardstock, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Cut out the “favorite rides” word fragment and attach it in the middle of the journaling with foam mounting tape. Secure the matted title centered about 1/4” down from the top of the page.
  4. Computer journal onto white cardstock and crop the journaling into 3 long strips. Mat one each on red, black and baby blue cardstock, trimming the mats to 1/16”. Using a glue stick, attach the matted journaling to the page beneath the photos, overlapping some of the journaling.
  5. Cut out the “see the sights”, “wild” and “fun” ribbon fragments and number tiles from the artwork. Attach the “see the sights” ribbon fragment to the bottom of the large photo with a glue stick. Use foam mounting tape to secure the “wild” and “fun” ribbon fragments to the top and bottom square photos. Add one number tile to each of the square photos with foam mounting tape.

Disneyland Autographs
By LeNae Gerig

Remember how fun it was to run around the park collecting autographs from your favorite Disney characters, but wonder what to do with them now? “Scrap them of course!” suggests LeNae. “Take photos of you or your children with each character, then scrap the autographs right next to the photos! What if you or your children don’t want to part with the book of autographs? Photocopying your autographs (or other elements like photos, tickets and programs) will let you keep the originals, but still have exact replicas to scrap on your layouts.”

Minnie Mouse
By Paris Dukes

Think Disney layouts are all about Mickey Mouse and primary colors? Not anymore! “I love the 8”x8” Disney Papers because the papers and artwork come with characters like Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck in girly pinks and purples!” Paris says. “The range of colors and characters makes it easy to scrap any photo–black and white or colored, masculine or feminine!”

Notice how Paris used the pre-printed ribbon strip on the paper’s border as inspiration to add strips and bows of real ribbon to tie it all together. The black and white photo provides contrast against the pink, white and lavender paper and embellishments so the layout is visually balanced. See how Paris overlapped the bottom of the photo over the border on the paper, then overlapped a ribbon fragment on top of the photo and placed artwork on the ribbon strips? By overlapping elements, the viewer’s eye is easily carried from one focal point to another without getting hung up on any one portion of the page.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Use the striped Minnie Mouse paper as the background. Mat the photo on solid black paper, trimming the mat to 1/16”. Secure the photo centered on the background paper, overlapping the border, with a glue stick.
  2. Cut a 9” length of lavender grosgrain ribbon. Lay the ribbon horizontally across the top of the page, wrapping the ends around the edges to secure on the back. Cut the “Minnie Mouse” title from the artwork. Attach the title centered over the lavender ribbon strip with foam mounting tape.
  3. Cut a 4” length of lavender grosgrain ribbon. Attach the ribbon strip vertically to the left side of the photo. Cut out the Minnie Mouse tiles from the artwork and secure them vertically down the ribbon length, as shown, with foam mounting tape. Cut a 6” length of lavender grosgrain ribbon and tie it into a shoestring bow. Attach the bow to the top of the ribbon length using a Glue Dot™.
  4. Cut the “Minnie Mouse” ribbon fragment from the artwork. Attach the ribbon fragment in the bottom right corner of the page, slightly overlapping the photo. Use a black pen to journal onto the background paper. Journal the names and location to the right of the photo and the date in the bottom left corner of the page.
