Using Sheer Pockets
They’re elegant. They’re fun. They’re even functional. AND,
they’re great embellishments for pages and handmade cards! So what are
they? New Sheer Pockets (LINK TO CATEGORY PAGE). Made from sheer organza, these
3”x3” pockets are perfect for pages or cards. They’re lightweight
and go great with themes like wedding, anniversary, heritage and baby. Tuck
a tag, a photo, journaling or even a lock of your baby’s hair into the
pocket. There are endless possibilities—take a look and see what our designers
came up with!
With This Ring
By Paris Dukes
The white sheer pocket is so versatile—the organza fabric and bow remind
me of the chiffon of a wedding dress and go with any wedding colors! I added
the sheer pocket to this wedding layout and used it to hold a great little tag
book of journaling. I also added bows of the couple’s wedding colors over
the white bow on the pocket—it gives a great 3-D effect!
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Use the tan words paper for your background. Cut a strip of tan dots paper
approximately 2 1/2” and glue it to the bottom of the page. Glue the
sheer pocket toward the left side of the page as shown. Add the ribbon border
across the pocket and overlapping the seam of the two different papers and
glue down. Add gold brads to each side.
- Add the ribbon words in the lower right corner of the page.
- Mat the photo with on beige cardstock with a 1/8” border, then tan
cardstock with a 1/16” border. Wrap the gold ribbon around the right
side of the photo, securing the ends on the back. Tie small lengths of all
three ribbons in a knot and add to the upper right hand corner of the photo
with a Glue Dot™ as shown. Glue the photo on the page as shown.
- Use the template to make a large white tag and a smaller tan tag. Cut out
the tag from the wedding artwork and layer all three tags together. Punch
a hole in the top, thread lengths of all three ribbons through and tie a knot.
Insert the tags into the sheer pocket. Cut lengths of the burgundy ribbon
and sheer gold ribbon, hold them together and tie a bow. Use a Glue Dot™
to add overtop of the white bow on the sheer pocket.

Baby Announcement Card
Designer: LeNae Gerig
This baby announcement can easily be made in multiples to save you money and
time. The sheer pockets are sold in packs of 2 and several rectangles can be
cut from 1 sheet of plaid paper. Pink is perfect for this baby girl.
Supplies:
Instructions:
- Cut the pink and yellow plaid paper into a 4 3/4” x 6 1/4” rectangle
and glue it centered, on the card front. Punch 5, evenly spaced holes approximately
1/8” from the card fold. Cut two 4” lengths of ribbon per hole,
thread both through the hole and knot. Repeat, alternating colors (pink grosgrain,
yellow striped, pink gingham, yellow grosgrain, pink grosgrain).
- Computer journal the baby information, remembering to leave space under
the name for the photo. Print onto white cardstock. Cut into a 2 1/4”
x 5 1/2” strip and clip the top 2 corners off to make a tag. Mat the
tag on yellow cardstock, leaving a 1/16” wide border. Trim the photo
into a 1” x 1/2” rectangle and mat with white and yellow cardstock.
Mount the photo with foam tape.
- Punch a hole at the top of the tag. Thread the gingham through the hole
and tie the remaining ribbon lengths at the center. Trim the tails to 1 1/2”
long. Slide the heart clip over the knot and pull the ribbon tails up through
the heart.
- Use Glue Dots™ to secure the sheer pocket to the card front. Place
the tag into the pocket as shown.
