Personalized Girlfriend Gift Journals
By Sara Naumann
GIRLFRIEND: (gurl-frend) n. 1. a female friend. 2. sister, mother or other female relative; a childhood friend or co-worker. 3. a woman who's smart and strong, confident and creative.
Who inspires you? If you're like me, you get inspiration from your Girlfriends—the women in your life, whether that's your best friend, your mother or your big sister. A Girlfriend is a confidante, someone you can laugh with, learn from and who'll always be straight with you.
She's probably got a certain style. She may be a true romantic, who cries at Hallmark commercials and loves anything with an old-fashioned or vintage touch. She might be the down-to-earth natural type, nurturing her garden and her relationships with equal care. You may think of her as a real classic: stylish, sophisticated and smart. Or she could be the woman who sees life as a journey—the woman with the gift of inspiration and insight. No matter what her style, Girlfriends have one thing in common: an appreciation for a handmade gift.
Why not celebrate these special women with something that suits her perfectly:
a handmade, personalized journal? It's easy—Paris Dukes designed four
very special journal-making kits for creative women on the go (that's you and
me!) to make wonderful gifts for the Girlfriends in our lives. Take a look!

"Making a gift journal like these is actually very easy,"
Paris says. "Each of these journals takes less than an hour to make."
To keep the journal-crafting process simple, Paris designed four kits,
each one containing a blank 9"x11" journal plus materials and instructions
for decorating it. "I'm a big sucker for anything handmade!" she confesses.
"I'm pretty sure the women in your life are too—yet because we're
all short on time, I wanted to make it easy for busy people to create
something handmade for a special friend."
Paris advises you first choose a kit based on the Girlfriend "style" you want to celebrate: The Romantic Girl journals have plenty of pink paper, flower images and pearl strand embellishments, while the Earthy Girl journals are accented with cork and raffia. "I loved creating these journals because they celebrate the many wonderful and amazing personalities of women," says Paris. "While working, I was inspired by the special women who have added meaning to my life."
Paris describes herself as a cross between the Romantic Girl and the
Earthy Girl. "I cry at sad movies and I still write poetry to my husband,"
she says. "Yet I also love doing things outdoors with my family, and the
natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, where I live. I'm passionate
about life—and I think those are characteristics of all of the Girlfriends,
no matter what her style."
Okay, Paris—so can you make a Girlfriend Gift journal for yourself? "Absolutely!" she says. "Celebrate your own style and personality!"
