2006 Calendar sarabinder™
By Paris Dukes
As the year winds down and 2006 sneaks closer and closer, we’re all thinking about our to-do lists for the upcoming year–and those New Year’s resolutions! Get organized ahead of time with Paris’ fun sarabinder™ design. She used the Serendipity technique of tearing small pieces of various papers and collaging them together to cover the front surface of the binder (you may also choose to add a decoupage finish over the torn paper pieces). Paris finished off the binder with a simple strip of coordinating paper, a matching tag and a knotted piece of grosgrain ribbon. Make this cool binder for yourself, or give it as a gift!
Supplies
Instructions:
- Ink the edges of the front, the spine and the back surface of the binder with black. Tear various shapes and sizes (about 1” to 1 1/2” square) of orange splotches, light orange textured, light yellow sponged and dark yellow sponged papers and use a glue stick to collage them onto the front surface of the binder. Place the binder face down on a cutting mat and use an X-acto® knife to carefully trace around the edges of the binder, trimming any excess paper even with the edges.
- Cut a 1 7/8” strip of orange squares paper and ink the edges with black. Glue it horizontally across the front of the binder, flush against the spine and about 1/2” up from the bottom edge. Trim the excess paper even with the right edge of the binder, then re-ink the edges of the front of the binder with black.
- Cut out the yellow and orange tag and ink the edges with black. Use number stamps and black ink to stamp the year onto the tag. Glue the tag to the left end of the orange squares paper strip.
- Cut a 3 1/2” length of black grosgrain ribbon and trim the tails at an angle. Tie a knot in the center, then use a Glue Dot™ to attach the knotted ribbon to the top of the tag.
- Add lined papers, calendar papers and dividers to help you organize the upcoming year!
