Supplies
Instructions:
-
Use a direct-to-paper inking technique to apply black ink to the binder’s back cover and spine. Apply glue stick to the front cover of the binder; place the patterned paper on the cover, lining up the polka-dot edge of the paper with the spine of the binder. Turn the binder over, place on a cutting mat and use an X-acto® knife to trim off the excess paper. Ink the edges of the paper.
- Glue lime ribbon horizontally across the front of the binder. You have two options:
- Cut a 5”-long piece of ribbon; glue the ribbon across only the front of the binder, trimming the ends even with the width of the binder cover. Secure with 3-4 Glue Dots™ placed across the cover. Add a touch of glue stick to each cut end of the ribbon to prevent fraying.
- Cut a 25”-long piece of ribbon; wrap horizontally around the front, spine and back cover of the binder to tie at the left side. Attach by placing 3-4 Glue Dots™ along the front cover, one on the spine and 3-4 more on the back cover. Tie the ends of the ribbon in a bow on the left side.
- Write or computer journal the recipient’s name on lime texture paper. Use Glue Dots™ to attach the library card holder to the paper to frame the name. Trim excess paper around the library card holder. Insert a brad through each of the holes on the library card holder to reinforce security.
- Use Ultimate Glue to attach the library card holder to the front of the binder.
- For the envelope insert: Ink the edges of the envelope, including the flap. Cut out the tag and glue it to the flap, the top even with the envelope opening. Wrap the tag around the back of the envelope. Add a brad to the top. Cut two 1 1/8”x12” strips of dotted paper and ink the edges. Glue one vertically to the front of the envelopes, about 1/8” to the right of the holes. Trim the excess at the top and bottom.
- For the pocket insert: Ink the edges of the pocket. Cut a 4”x3/4” strip of striped paper and ink the edges. Glue along the bottom of the pocket, trimming any excess even with the pocket. Cut out the tag, add a brad and glue to the front of the pocket.
