Paris uses this altered book as an artsy way to display her many lists from the many hats she wears in life. From grocery lists to “To-Do” lists to prioritizing the holidays, Paris shows that you can be creative in organizing your life!

Paris says: “An altered book is a more private place for personal journaling. For some reason, I can be more free with my journaling in an altered book instead of on a scrapbook page. I have definitely poured out more of my heart in my altered books. In “My Many Hats, My Many Lists,” I chose to journal in the same font throughout the book and in all capital letters to keep all of my lists at an equal importance.”

Supplies

Instructions:

For the Introduction Page:

  1. Cover the top of the book pages with the cream French paper. Ink the edges with black. Tear the top of the black French paper and glue to the bottom of the book pages as shown.
  2. For the left side of the layout, add the hat artwork as shown. Cut out alphabet tiles to spell “hats” and ink the edges with black. Use foam mounting tape to attach the alphabet tiles near the top of the black French paper. Using the template and white cardstock, draw and cut out a tag, then add journaling with a black pen. Fold over a piece of black grosgrain ribbon and attach it to the tag using a brad as shown. Glue the tag to the bottom of the page.
  3. Computer journal the phrase “my many” twice onto white cardstock. Add one “my many” behind the brass label holder. String black grosgrain ribbon through the hole on the left side of the brass label holder. Attach the label holder to the top left corner of the page using brads on each side. Secure the ends of the ribbon by wrapping them under the left side of the page.
  4. For the right page, fold over the upper right corner of a few pages and ink the edges. Secure with a brad. Add the clock artwork so it shows under the folded pages as shown. Add the rest of the artwork to the page as shown. Cut out alphabet tiles to spell “lists” and ink the edges with black. Use foam mounting tape to attach the alphabet tiles near the bottom of the black French paper. Cut out the other “my many” and ink the edges. Fold over a piece of black grosgrain ribbon and attach it to “my many” with a brad. Glue this on the black French paper above the “lists” alphabet tiles.
  5. Computer journal the titles for the different lists. Cut out the titles and glue throughout the book pages as shown.
