Friendship sarabook™
Looking for a heartfelt gift for a friend? A friendship-themed
sarabook™ is a great way to show her how much she means to you.
Supplies
The cover & inside front cover:
Glue a cover blank to the back of the floral paper and trim,
leaving 1/2” all around. Miter the corners and punch the holes.
Tear a 3” to 4”x7 1/2” piece of white vellum and position
it across the book cover, securing the ends on the inside front cover
with glue. Wrap a piece of blue fiber across the book cover, securing
the ends on the inside front cover with tape. Cut out “A true friend”
quote, chalk words with blue and mat on light mesh paper. Edge with black
inkpad. Center on the vellum with foam tape. Use a blank page to trace
a piece of light mesh paper and glue inside the front cover. Repunch the
holes. Glue a torn 3”-wide piece of dark mesh paper on the right
side of the page.
Page Two:
Cover a page blank with parchment paper; glue a torn 3”-wide piece
of dark mesh paper on the left side. Cut out the “friends”
title and add to page with foam tape. Cut the “glory of friendship”
quote into three parts and chalk highlighted words with blue. Edge each
piece with black ink, mat on parchment paper and add to the pages as shown.
Cut out the small blue circle tag, add a brad and “Joy”. Add
the tag to the page with foam tape. (Sara recommends attaching the circle
tag after covering the reverse side of the page with light blue floral
tape.)
Page Three:
Turn page over and cover with light blue floral paper. Wrap blue fiber
around the glassine envelope, then glue the envelope in the center of
the page. Attach a brad to the gold “friend” charm; attach
charm with foam tape as shown. Cut “a friend knows the song”
quote into two portions. Glue the first portion to a piece of blue glimmer
paper, turn over and glue the second portion to the other side. Tuck inside
the envelope.
Page Four:
Cover a page blank with light blue floral paper. Use colored pencil to
color in the frame around the “masterpiece” quote and chalk
a few of the words. Mat on glimmer paper, then on blue textured paper
and again on glimmer paper. Center on page. Add gold embossed Friendship
charm.
Page Five:
Turn page over and cover with blue texture paper. Cut out two medium
shipping tags and edge with black ink. Add brads and fiber to each. Cut
dedication quote into two pieces, chalk each with blue and edge with black.
Fold over one corner of each and add to tags. Place tags on page as shown.
Back Cover:
Glue a cover blank to the back of the floral paper and trim, leaving
1/2” all around. Miter the corners and punch the holes. Use a page
blank to cut a piece of blue texture paper; glue inside back cover. Create
a torn-edge pocket with blue floral paper, wrapping a blue fiber around
the pocket before attaching to the inside back cover. Add a circle tag
with brad and gold embossed charm to the page. Tuck a handwritten note
inside the pocket.
Binding:
Place pages in sequence. Cut fibers into three equal lengths. Use an
opened paper clip wrapped around the fibers to thread each group through
thee holes. Knot the fibers together, leaving them loose enough to hold
the book together while still allowing it top open and close easily. Tie
the gold key to one of the fibers.
