Paris’ pretty ornament has holiday charm! Made from our Nested
Shapes template and embellished with 3-D accents, this design is easy
to make too. Hang it on the Christmas tree, in the window or from a doorknob—or
tie it onto a special gift package or on the front of a card. It also
makes a wonderful gift for teachers and baby sitters.
“All you do is trace the nested shapes template onto the patterned
paper, using a gold metallic pen, then cut out the shapes,” Paris
says. “Layer them together with foam tape, then embellish with beads,
fibers and other fun stuff!”
Here’s how she made this sweet ornament:
Supplies:
Trace each template shape onto the front of the paper with gold metallic
pen. After tracing, lift the template off the paper rather than sliding
it across the paper.
- 3-A onto burgundy poinsettia paper
- 3-B onto cream fleur-de-lis paper
- 3-C onto burgundy fleur-de-lis paper
- 3-D onto cream poinsettia paper
Cut out each shape, cutting just outside the gold metallic lines.
Layer the shapes in order of the listing here, with 3-A on the bottom
and 3-D on top. Use foam tape between each layer. Cut out the “joy”
letters individually and attach each letter with foam tape.
Punch a hole in the Christmas embossed word tag and thread onto a piece
of gold cord. Knot gold cord into a loop and attach to the back of the
ornament as a hanger. Tie a knot in two pieces of gold mesh ribbon and
use a Glue Dot to secure one to the front of the ornament and one to the
back. Add gold beads along the corner of the burgundy fleur-de-lis piece.
You’re done—happy holidays!
