Unlock Your Imagination
By Shauna Berglund-Immel

What better way to celebrate the joy that comes from reading than by creating an altered book? Whether for a friend, a loved one, or a special treat for yourself this imaginative book is easy to make, using Tag Art Cut-Outs™. The tags are a great embellishment and create the perfect place for journaling or special touches like photos.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Shauna cut out two rectangles of tan words paper to fit the book pages, then used a computer to print the title on one piece. She inked the edges of both pieces, then glued them to the book pages.
  2. Next Shauna cut a paragraph from a page in the Alter-able book and inked the edges. She printed a poem on vellum, then added words cut out from the book text. She attached both pieces to the right page, using brads for the vellum.
  3. Shauna added a tag to the top left corner with fibers. She also added photos and art to three tags of the same size, then attached them together with a fiber and tucked them into a mini vellum envelope. She attached the rusted key to the fiber. Shauna then placed another tag with fibers near the poem on the bottom right page.
  4. Shauna also added embossed paper tape-style fragments on the tags, mini envelope and book text. The fragments add contrast, texture and help to tell the story. She finished the book by tying fibers around the center of the page.

Shauna Berglund-Immel finds inspiration from online paper-crafting sites, magazine and idea books. Her sophisticated signature style is evident in everything she creates.
