![]() Like many of us, scrapper Kimberly Llorens enjoys not only the creativity, but the social aspect of scrapbooking. “I will make any excuse to get out of the house for a break—and other scrapbookers make great friends!?she says. Kimberly, who began scrapbooking about seven years ago at a Creative Memories party, learns techniques and gets ideas from scrapping with friends who are expert scrappers. She also spends time reading scrapbook magazines and taking classes at her local scrapbook stores. The mother of two admits that she became hooked immediately when she started scrapping, and explains, “I enjoy a real sense of accomplishment after I complete a layout. It can't be undone like housework.” Kimberly, who retired from public accounting seven years ago to stay at home with her two daughters, Kaitlyn (6 yrs.) and Amanda (4 yrs.), has won several Hot Off The Press page contests and has also been published in Hot Off The Press' Making Fabulous Scrapbook Pages. Aside from scrapbooking, Kimberly enjoys the outdoors, reading, stamping, socializing with friends and photography. She takes many pictures of her daughters. “I was a third child and there were very few pictures taken of me. I wanted my children to be able to look back on their childhood with fond memories,?she explains. The main inspirations for Kimberly's scrapbooking are her two daughters. “Because of the many photographs I have taken of Kaitlyn and Amanda, there are all sorts of possibilities for being creative while I scrapbook,” she says. “Scrapbooking organizes the pictures in a way that makes it fun for people to view and comment on my work. I am also inspired to learn new scrapbooking techniques. Since I am mainly a stay at home mom, it is nice to challenge my mind by learning new techniques and then applying them to a layout.” About this layout:I like taking pictures of my girls in different kinds of flower fields. We like to attend all the flower festivals in the area. This was the first time we attended the Iris Festival in Salem. The girls were excited to see the different colors of the irises. When I think of irises, I think purple. I chose to use purple patterned paper to accent the purple irises. Techniques:I cut out the S-I-S-T-E-R-S letters from HOTP alphabet tiles. I carefully tore them and mounted the letters on black cardstock, then used letter stamps with black ink to spell out a few of the title words like blossom. I also used different fonts from the computer and then traced the words using vellum over the computer-generated words. For the tag, I printed directly on the cardstock and then cut it into a tag shape.
