Leather Cord Necklace
By Katie Hacker

Katie says: Wrapping wire around the cord on each side of the beads prevents them from sliding and keeps the clasp in the back.

Supplies

  • five 10mm embossed silver beads
  • four 6mm silver spacer beads
  • ten 9mm oval wooden beads
  • 18” length of 1mm brown leather cord
  • 3” length of 24-guage silver craft wire
  • 2 silver eye crimps
  • silver barrel clasp
  • chain nose pliers
  • wire nippers
  • flat nose pliers

Instructions

  1. Attach an eye crimp to one end of the cord by laying the cord in the open side of the crimp and extending it away from the eye. Use flat nose pliers to flatten each crimp side over the cord. String a wooden bead, and embossed bead, a wood bead and a spacer bead. Repeat the pattern as shown until all of the beads are used. Attach an eye crimp to the end of the necklace. Attach half of the clasp to each side of the necklace.
  2. Arrange the beads so they are centered on the cord. Cut the wire in half and wrap each length in a tight coil around the cord on each side of the beads. Use chain nose pliers to press the wire ends into the cord.
