Holiday Glass Ornaments
Maybe it’s time to spice up the décor on that
holiday tree—or to create some decorations with more of a personal
touch. Whichever the case, these gorgeous glass ornaments are sure to
fit the bill.
Supplies
- rubber stamps: Fancy Ornament, Design Elements Collection
by Inkadinkado®
- Embossing Magic™
- Frosted White pigment ink
- white and silver embossing powders
- clear glass ornaments: 3” wide round, 2 3/4” x 4”
teardrop
- 24” of 1/4” wide white sheer ribbon
- liquid acrylic all-purpose sealer
- 1” wide foam brush
- pencil with new eraser
- 2 cloth hot pads or a kitchen towel
- embossing heat tool
Instructions:
- Wash the ornaments with hot, soapy water, rinse; let dry thoroughly.
To prepare the glass surface for stamping, apply a coat of sealer to
each ornament and let dry. Rub Embossing Magic™ over each ornament.
- Mix an equal amount of white and silver embossing powders. Gently
place the teardrop ornament on it’s side on a hot pad or kitchen
towel. Stamp Fancy Ornament on the center front with white ink, carefully
rolling the stamp from side-to-side along the curved surface. Sprinkle
the embossing powder mixture onto the wet ink and heat set. Avoid overheating
the glass to prevent it from cracking.
- Gently place the round ornament on the remaining hot pad. Stamp the
Swirl and Star from the Design Elements Collection evenly spaced on
one side of the ornament. Sprinkle the embossing ink powder mixture
onto the wet ink and heat set. Dip the pencil eraser tip into the ink
pad and press it onto the ornament between the Swirls and Stars. Sprinkle
embossing powder on top and heat set. Allow the side to completely cool,
then turn the ornament over and repeat the stamping and embossing process
until the entire surface of the ornament is embellished.
- Cut the ribbon in half. With one length, insert the center through
the ornament top hanger, then tie a shoestring bow with a 2 1/2”
center loop, two 1 1/4” side loops and two 1 1/2” tails.
Repeat for the remaining ornament. Trim each bow tail at an angle.
