The Decorative Marble Coaster Kit
By Angie Felix

Looking for a unique way to display your memories or a great gift idea? Here’s an idea—The Decorative Marble Coaster Kit from Tilano Fresco. This four-coaster kit allows you to transfer any type of image onto a genuine marble coaster. You can create a set of coasters for a gift, individual coasters as smaller gifts or a set for yourself at home! Easy-to-follow instructions are included with the kit, but here’s a basic run-down of how it works. (LeNae recommended this kit after seeing it at a craft industry tradeshow.)

What You’ll Need t

How it Works

You’ll select your image or artwork, then create a framing template by tracing one of the coasters onto the plain white paper and cutting it out. You’ll use this to help you center and size your image.

Next you’ll take your images and transfer paper to a local copy center. There they can assist you in resizing your images to fit onto the coaster, and getting two images on a sheet. They can also help you to make a mirrored, color laser copy of the images onto the transfer paper.

To seal the image, you’ll add a thin layer of medium to the transfer paper and let it dry, then place your white square template over the image and use it as a guide to center your images and cut away the transfer paper.

In order to transfer the image to the coaster, you’ll add medium to the coaster itself, using the foam brush to evenly cover the surface and applying your image face down, using the spreader to flatten it out. You’ll let the coaster lie flat to dry for four hours or place in the oven at 150 degrees for 15 minutes, then cool.

Brushing water onto the back of the paper with foam brush will make the paper easy to peel off. After removing the paper you’ll again let the coaster dry. You can use sandpaper to remove any excess medium or any transfer paper that remains. To seal the coaster you’ll coat the entire coaster with medium again, then let dry. Finally, you’ll add the self-adhesive footings to each corner of the bottom of the coasters.
