Ballet Box

Perfect for a daughter,
niece or other special girl in your life, this Ballet Box is great for a gift
or as a project you can make together.
Supplies:
- craft foam:
Ballerina Kit
alphabet letter stickers: assortment of Dotty, Improve, Funky
- 7 1/2"x7 1/2"x4 1/2" papier mâché box with lid
- four 11/2" wide unfinished wood knobs
- 1 1/8 yards of 1 1/2" wide white dots on pink satin ribbon with wire
edges
- pink rhinestones: one 25mm rectangle, four 6mm round
- pink glitter glue
- acrylic paints: light pink, dark pink
- all-purpose liquid matte sealer
- 1" wide foam brush
- basic supplies: scissors, ruler, pencil, fine point permanent black
pen, non-toxic glue (we suggest Creative Hands® Foam World™ Glue)
Instructions:
- Remove the lid from the box. Use the foam sponge to apply a coat of sealer
to the entire box and lid; rinse the foam brush and let dry. Paint the box
bottom and sides dark pink. Paint the lid and each wood knob light pink; rinse
the foam brush and let dry. Apply another coat of sealer to the box and lid;
let dry.
- Glue a knob to each bottom corner on the box; let dry. Glue a round rhinestone
to each top corner of the lid; let dry. Draw a glitter wavy line along each
edge of the lid top and let dry. Turn the lid on one side and draw dots evenly
spaced along the side; let dry, then repeat for each lid side.
- Wrap the ribbon around the box from the back to the front, pull the ends
even, then knot it at the front. Place a dab of glue behind the ribbon knot
to secure it to the box. Cut an inverted "V" into each end, then
glue the rectangle rhinestone to the knot.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions to assemble the ballerina. Draw the
eyes and mouth as shown. Glue her and attach the letters to the lid as shown.
Draw loopy lines and tri-dots below the "twirl" and "plié"
words.
