Ivory Wedding Album
By Marilyn Gossett

Handmade wedding accessories add a unique touch to that special occasion. This pretty album makes a wonderful wedding keepsake (and a perfect bridal shower gift). It's just one of the 54 bridal projects in Marilyn's book, Wedding Ribbonry.

Supplies:

  • 6"x61/2" photo album
  • one yard of 1 1/2" ivory plaid ribbon with wire edges
  • two 5 3/4"x6 5/8" rectangles of cardboard
  • 2 sheets of Paper Pizazz™ diagonal ribbons paper
  • 1 sheet of Paper Pizazz™ vellum dots
  • white paper
  • 2 sheets of white tissue paper
  • two 1" wide ivory paper roses, each with a 1" leaf
  • 1/2" wide white paper rose with a 1" green leaf
  • 10" of 3mm ivory fused pearls
  • glue stick, scissors, tacky glue, ruler, pencil

Instructions:

  1. Fold each tissue sheet to 5 3/4" x 6 5/8". Glue one folded tissue to each cardboard piece. Place the tissue side of one cardboard piece onto the back of the ribbons paper and wrap the edges around the back cardboard; glue to secure. Repeat with the other cardboard pieces.

  2. Apply tacky glue onto the album front, then place one of the wrapped cardboard pieces on top with the right sides even. Turn the album over and apply tacky glue to the outside back, then place the other wrapped cardboard piece centered on the back. Let dry.
  3. Open the book to the inside center. Wrap the ribbon around the binding and tie into a shoestring bow with 2 1/2" loops and 6" tails. Cut an inverted "V" into each tail. Glue the bow to the album front as shown.

  4. Computer journal or handwrite "Our Wedding" on white paper. Cut into a 3"x2 1/2" white rectangle, then glue it centered on the album front. Glue a 3 3/8"x4" vellum dots piece on top.

  5. Cut the roses and leaves from the stems and glue to the bow center as shown. Tuck and glue the ends of the pearls under the roses, then bend it into a loop and glue the loop bottom to the album.

Shoestring Bow

  1. Measure the desired tail length from the end of the ribbon, then make a loop of the specified length. Wrap the free end of the ribbon loosely around the center of the loop.
  2. Form a loop in the free end of the ribbon and push it through the center loop. Pull the loops in opposite directions to tighten, then pull on the tails to adjust the size of the loops.
