Tracing and Transferring Patterns

Trace the pattern onto tracing paper. Cut the patterns out. Place each piece on the felt and use a disappearing pen to trace the pattern onto the felt.

How to Do a Running Stitch:

Insert the needle into the felt and bring it out again 1/16"-14" away. Repeat, making the stitches as even as possible. Long running stitches are used for basting or gathering. Shorter stitches are used for joining felt layers.

running stitch (not Lilo's friend!) technique

How to Make it:

  1. Trace and transfer patterns. Cut out the felt as follows:
    1. lavender: journal
    2. magenta: rectangle
    3. lime green: heart
  2. Trim the journal and rectangle with patterned scissors.
  3. Fold the journal cover in half. Mark and punch the journal and cardstock holes. Insert the cardstock inside the journal and align the holes. Thread the ribbons through the holes and tie them into a shoestring bow on top
  4. Glue the rectangle centered on the journal front, then glue the heart onto the rectangle. Glue the rhinestones to the heart as shown. Sew a running stitch around the journal front.
