Vintage style is hot, and it’s not just for scrapbook pages! Soft colors, distressed brads, faux stitching and a big silk flower create the unique vintage style on this playful Valentine–versatile enough to use as a fun “I love you” any time of the year!

Supplies:
Instructions:
For the Card Front:
- Cut a 4 5/8” piece of multi stripes paper with the stripes running vertically, then ink the edges with black. Mat the top and bottom edges on red glimmer paper, trimming the mats to 1/16”. Place the card with the fold at the top, then glue the matted paper piece centered across the front of the card, trimming the excess paper even with the edges of the card. Use a black pen and a ruler to add faux zigzag stitching pen work along the top and bottom edges.
- Cut the printed border off the overlay and lay the border over green polka dot paper. Trim the green polka dot paper even with the edges of the overlay border, then set the overlay border aside and ink the top and bottom edges of the polka dot paper with black. Mat the top and bottom edges of polka dot paper on red glimmer paper, trimming the mats to 1/16”. Lay the overlay over the green polka dot paper and attach the two layers together with two crisscrossed staples in the left end. Lay the matted border over the card front and trim the excess even with the edges of the card. (Tip: Since the overlay border is 8” long, lay the overlay on the card so the left end of the border is flush against the left edge of the card, then trim the right end even with the right edge of the card. This way, the word “loved” will be in just the right place on the card front.) Cut a 4” length of burgundy grosgrain ribbon and lay it at an angle over the left end of the overlay, wrapping the tails around the top and bottom of the border to secure on the back. Glue the matted overlay across the card front, 5/8” up from the bottom edge.
- Punch a heart out of multi floral paper and ink the edges with black. Mat the punched heart on the mat to 1/32", and add two criscrossed staples to the center of the center of the heart. Use foam tape to secure the heart the heart overlapping the ribbon on the right end of the overlay.
- Use sandpaper to distress the tops of two burgundy embossed brads and add the brads along the edges of the matted overlay.
- Sand the top of one burgundy big brad. Punch a 3/4” circle out of multi floral paper and ink the edges with black, then glue the circle to the top of the distressed big brad. Add the accented brad to the center of one large burgundy silk flower and attach the flower to the card front as shown.
- Cut out the small white tag and use a black pen to journal the phrase “you are” onto it. Punch a 1/16” hole in the top of the tag and thread a length of white embroidery floss through, tying the tails together to create a loop. Loop the thread around the big brad in the center of the flower, then use foam tape to secure the tag at an angle on the card front, just above the word “loved” printed on the overlay.
For the Card Inside:
- Cover the inside of the card with multi floral paper and ink the edges with black. Cut out the blue circular tag with the lavender flower and glue it toward the bottom right corner of the card.
- Punch a heart out of green polka dot paper and ink the edges with black. Mat the punched heart on red glimmer paper, trimming the mat to 1/32”, and add two crisscrossed staples to the center of the heart. Use foam tape to secure the heart overlapping the circular tag, as shown.
- Use sandpaper to distress the top of one burgundy embossed brad, then add the brad to the right edge of the punched heart.
