Love
By Paris Dukes

This hip, all-purpose greeting is sure to brighten up the dreary winter months! Paris used coordinating papers and artwork from the brand-new 8”x8” Retro Papers collection for this cool creation.

“8”x8” papers are great for card makers,” Paris says. “Each sheet of paper is large enough to cover the card and still have paper left over for accenting. Since all the papers are already coordinated for you, you’re sure to find beautiful papers that work well together for both the inside and outside of your card. The artwork is also sized smaller so you know it’s not going to overwhelm your card.”

Supplies:

Instructions:

For the Card Front:

  1. Orient the card so the fold is on the top, then trim 1” off the bottom edge of the card front. Cut a 1/2” wide strip of solid pink paper and glue it flush against the bottom edge, trimming the excess paper even with the edges of the card. Cut a 3 3/4”x6 1/2” piece of solid brown paper and glue it over the top portion of the card front, leaving a 1/4” border of solid pink along the bottom edge.
  2. Cut out the two green dotted borders and glue them on opposite diagonal angles across the bottom portion of the card front, intersecting in the middle. Add one dark brown mini brad to each end of the border strips.
  3. Cut out the “Love” label. Cut a 2” length of lime grosgrain ribbon and fold it in half, then secure the loose ends to the back of the label, creating a tab that extends from the top edge of the label. Add one dark brown mini brad to the folded ribbon, just above the top edge of the label. Use foam mounting tape to attach the label to the card front, overlapping the point where the green dotted borders intersect.

For the Card Inside:

  1. Cover the inside of the card with green dotted paper. Cut a 1 1/4” wide strip of solid pink paper and mat the top and bottom edges on solid brown paper, trimming the mats to 1/8”. Glue the matted strip about 1 1/4” down from the top edge and trim the excess even with the edges of the card. Cut out the “Laugh, Smile” bottle cap and mat on solid brown paper, trimming the mat to 1/32”. Glue the matted artwork to the solid pink paper strip, 1” in from the right edge.
  2. Cut out the blank pink ribbon fragment and use a brown pen to journal “Thinking of you!” on it. Glue it in the bottom right corner of the card and add one dark brown mini brad to each end of the fragment.
