Simple, but striking—that’s just the impression this handmade card gives. The layers of textured, patterned paper are a great match for the wonderful dimension of the real fabric sticker embellishments. This cute little cupcake sticker from Birthday Fabric Stickers is the perfect size to place in the center of a large square slide mount—it’s a wonderful way to dress up a sticker! Susan also added spiral mini clips and grograin ribbon to create this cool handmade birthday card.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Turn the card so the fold is at the top. Cover the card front with purple textured paper, trimming the edges evenly with the card. Glue the lime textured paper about 3/8” from the left side of the card front and trim evenly with the card edges. Glue the border side of the plaid paper to the card front, about 1/2” from the left side of the card, so about 1/8” of the lime paper is showing. Trim evenly with card front.
  2. Cover a slide mount with purple textured paper and trim edges—see our Beginners & Basics column for a quick how-to. Fold a 1” length of ribbon and glue to the back of the slide mount so it extends from the top. Adhere the cupcake sticker near the center of the card front and glue the slide mount over the sticker to frame it. Tie a knot in a 5 1/2” length of ribbon and glue to the right of the dotted paper border. Trim edges evenly with the card.
  3. Mat the “happy birthday” sticker tag on lime paper and adhere to the bottom of the card front. Glue gold mini clips to the tag and dotted border as shown.
  4. Cover the inside with teal textured paper. Mat the second tag on lime paper and adhere to the inside. Write “Enjoy your day!” on lime paper with the black pen and mat on purple textured paper. Trim and glue to the inside, overlapping the tag.
